Roll Over

Yesterday Liam thrilled us with a new skill....the roll over. He rolled over 5 times in a row before he grew tired of Mommy putting him back on his belly and voiced his opinion. Now, I'll admit that some of these roll overs look accidental but he has managed to do it about a dozen times again this morning (and it's only 9am!) I can't believe he's rolling over already, he is only 2 months and 4 days old. We've got a smart one here!

How cute!

Last night we had to run to Babies 'r' Us and while waiting in the checkout line found the most adorable cowboy hat! Boy, am I a typical shopper, picking up items that are placed close to the checkout but it was just SOOOOO cute (and only $2.87 on clearance!) Liam didn't know what all the fuss was about as we ooohhhed and aaahhhed at him he just thought it was a funny game. So here are some pictures of my little stud. We are going to have to take pictures with all his cowboy gear on, he has overalls, an adorable pearl button shirt and little boots as well. Sorry about the red eye, the picture program won't remove it correctly and kept making it worse so he looks a little crazy.

Christmas

I have finally gotten a chance to sit down without a little guy and post an update. We had a wonderful Christmas season this year. We started our Christmas celebration with the Ellett family the Sunday before the actual holiday. We got to see some extended family and had a really good time. The food was great (as usual!) and Liam scored lots of cool gifts including an amazing wood semi truck/trailer that was custom made. Liam is a creature of habit and being out of our routine sort of through off his whole day and made him a fussy, needy boy. That is my excuse for completely forgetting to get out the camera! I couldn't believe it when we got home and I realized I had not taken a single picture....what an airhead! We left for Watsonville on Tuesday, Liam did absolutely great. It took us 8 hours to make a 6 hour drive, but we made it without too much drama (other than a brand new rental car who's engine light came on in the middle of highway 5!) It was great to see my family and watch as they spoiled Liam. Watsonville was freezing! Finn had a great time playing with Toby. He wonders around our house looking completely board, bet he wishes Toby were here. Liam again scored a ton of gifts. I could not believe how packed the car was on the way home, I swear we are going to need a bus if our family gets any bigger. We stayed a week and then had to make the drive back. That drive really sucks but it was worth it for the visit. We spent New Year's Eve at home. I did manage to stay awake until midnight even though Liam was sleeping. We celebrated by eating ice cream in bed, I was sound asleep by twelve twenty! We are party animals!

Caught in the act...

I finally managed to catch Liam smiling and giggling. He is always really happy in the morning and loves to sit in his bouncer seat and check out the world. He was so cute I figured I should post it. Enjoy.

Tonya's Photos

We were lucky enough to have a friend of ours, Tonya, take some beautiful pictures of Liam. She was sweet enough to do 2 sessions since Liam was an "angry little elf." We just got the photos back and they are even better than I'd hope. Thanks Tonya!

One month!

I can't believe how quickly one month has flown by. It has been a whirlwind of diaper changes, feedings, giggles, sly little smiles and sleepless nights. Liam seems to change everyday. He has been so alert lately and loves to sit straight up, hold up his head and look around. We have mostly good days, peppered in with some real doozies. He had one of those doozie days a few days ago...you know the type. Clean, dry and comfy but very upset. Those are the times when it is hardest for me, it makes me feel helpless when I don't know what to do to comfort him. Liam is growing well, at last weigh in (which was probably about 1 1/2 weeks ago) he was 9lbs 14.5 oz. One of these days I'll have to weigh him again. I made Frank buy a baby scale when we first brought Liam home since the nurse in me worried he wouldn't get enough to eat and would lose weight. His Buddha belly assures me he's doing well. I'm so excited for Christmas. I know that Liam has no clue what is going on but having him makes the season so much more meaningful to me.

Notice the poor boy's baby acne....thank goodness for picture programs with a "heal" feature!

Being Mommy

I always knew I wanted to be a Mommy but I can't begin to express how wonderful it is to look at a sweet, little baby and know that he is yours. The awe and the incredible responsibility of it are just amazing. As many of you know, I am just not a morning person...that's why I work the night shift. But this morning will go down as a cherished moment. Liam was a very good boy last night and actually let me get some sleep. I had about 3 hours straight from 3 to 6am! That is much different than 3 hours between feeds, which gives you only an hour and a half to two hours rest. When he woke up at six I brought him into our bed for a feeding and was blessed with a ton of smiles and a giggle. The giggle has been his newest trick. He was so excited to see me, and that recognition between baby and mom does a lot to boost the spirits of a really, really tired Mommy. Well, this blog will be short as I'm holding a little sleeping dude in my arms as I type. We are off to sit in the recliner and enjoy the morning together.
