Happy Valentine's Day!

Liam wanted to wish everybody a very happy Valentine's Day!

XOXOXO

What a week

On a day reserved to celebrated love I want to express my great love to my two special guys (well, three if you count Finny!) We had quite an eventful week at our house. Last Sunday Liam began running a fever. With no cold or flu symptoms I worried about the source, so after a call to the doctor on Sunday night we agreed to go in to the office Monday morning. Even though Liam was not quite himself, he still managed to smile and flirt with all the staff. Since the doctor couldn't find anything wrong either we were sent to the lab for multiple test including a urinalysis. By Tuesday Liam still had a fever, looked pale, refused to eat and had his Mommy in a state of panic. We went back to the doctor's office and found out that he had a urinary tract infection. This is rare in little boys and instantly raises suspicions of kidney problems. Liam had to be admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics and multiple ultrasounds, labs and x-rays. As a nurse I knew what needed to be done....as a Mom it was incredibly hard to watch as your baby is poked and prodded. Liam proved his strength and knocked out his IV 3 times! Sadly, each IV insertion took multiple sticks, his hands and feet bare the bruises. I have never felt so helpless. I'm so thankful that Frank and Nazar were able to give him a blessing and that my parents were able to rush down and stay with us. We spent 3 days and 2 very long nights in the hospital. The test all came back normal and were discharged home with oral antibiotics (which Liam treats like poison!) When I think back to my life about 3 Valentines ago I would never have imagined that I would be blessed with an amazing, loving husband and a sweet little boy that steals my heart each time he smiles. We are all doing well and are thankful for all our blessings. Happy Valentines Day to everyone we love!

This made Daddy believe that it was some sort of primate virus.

Again, pulling his feet up to play.

Learning new skills

I am amazed at how much Liam changes from day to day. Just this last week he realized that he could grab toys and not just hit them. He has also become very interested in reading and loves his dragon book. The last few days he has found is lower lip and likes to suck it in. He makes some funny little faces when he does this. He has also been doing a lot more "talking" and squealing. Just too cute.

Blessing

This last weekend was a busy one for the Ellett's....Liam was blessed! We were thrilled to have Grandma and Grandpa Thorne drive down to visit and see the blessing. We were also lucky that Grandma Ruth and Grandpa Ray were feeling well enough to make it, they have been battling some nasty bug. Liam looked absolutely adorable in his little white romper. He slept quietly until he was handed off to Daddy then he sang into the microphone! The good thing was that he managed to save his "biological emergency" until after his blessing. That would explain why the picture of us at church is in his fancy blessing day pj's! We had to wash his special outfit and have a repeat photo-op on Monday.

Roll Over

Yesterday Liam thrilled us with a new skill....the roll over. He rolled over 5 times in a row before he grew tired of Mommy putting him back on his belly and voiced his opinion. Now, I'll admit that some of these roll overs look accidental but he has managed to do it about a dozen times again this morning (and it's only 9am!) I can't believe he's rolling over already, he is only 2 months and 4 days old. We've got a smart one here!

How cute!

Last night we had to run to Babies 'r' Us and while waiting in the checkout line found the most adorable cowboy hat! Boy, am I a typical shopper, picking up items that are placed close to the checkout but it was just SOOOOO cute (and only $2.87 on clearance!) Liam didn't know what all the fuss was about as we ooohhhed and aaahhhed at him he just thought it was a funny game. So here are some pictures of my little stud. We are going to have to take pictures with all his cowboy gear on, he has overalls, an adorable pearl button shirt and little boots as well. Sorry about the red eye, the picture program won't remove it correctly and kept making it worse so he looks a little crazy.

Christmas

I have finally gotten a chance to sit down without a little guy and post an update. We had a wonderful Christmas season this year. We started our Christmas celebration with the Ellett family the Sunday before the actual holiday. We got to see some extended family and had a really good time. The food was great (as usual!) and Liam scored lots of cool gifts including an amazing wood semi truck/trailer that was custom made. Liam is a creature of habit and being out of our routine sort of through off his whole day and made him a fussy, needy boy. That is my excuse for completely forgetting to get out the camera! I couldn't believe it when we got home and I realized I had not taken a single picture....what an airhead! We left for Watsonville on Tuesday, Liam did absolutely great. It took us 8 hours to make a 6 hour drive, but we made it without too much drama (other than a brand new rental car who's engine light came on in the middle of highway 5!) It was great to see my family and watch as they spoiled Liam. Watsonville was freezing! Finn had a great time playing with Toby. He wonders around our house looking completely board, bet he wishes Toby were here. Liam again scored a ton of gifts. I could not believe how packed the car was on the way home, I swear we are going to need a bus if our family gets any bigger. We stayed a week and then had to make the drive back. That drive really sucks but it was worth it for the visit. We spent New Year's Eve at home. I did manage to stay awake until midnight even though Liam was sleeping. We celebrated by eating ice cream in bed, I was sound asleep by twelve twenty! We are party animals!
