Our Easter Boys

During all the Easter festivities we took a minute to take a few pictures of  our cute boys.  Grandma Thorne bought Liam and Spencer new Easter outfits.  So adorable!  Those boys sure love each other!  Liam loves to kiss Spencer and Spencer loves to laugh at all Liam’s  antics.  It’s so much fun to watch them together.  They are going to be such good friends as they grow up!

I love how they’re talking to each other.  So sweet.

So remember sweet boys, you are so precious.  Precious not just to your parents and family, but also to your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  Remember the true reason for Easter.  Jesus loves you.  He loved you so much that he willingly sacrificed his life for you.  There is no gift greater.  We are all blessed to have you in our lives.  Continue to grow strong and faithful.

We love you!

Oakland Zoo

Today we went to the Oakland Zoo.  We had a wonderful time!  The weather was mild and the crowds were fairly light.  Liam loved seeing all the big animals!  So did Spencer!  He is such a happy little guy.  It is so fun to watch the two boys together.  Liam loved practicing all his animal sounds.

One of the first “big” animals that we saw was the giraffes.

Liam was sooooo excited!

Look at that happy little guy!

As we were walking along a path and saw a cute this little squirrel.  Liam, being a boy, took off chasing him.  I had no fear that he would actually catch the squirrel but just as he got close the squirrel decided to stop and eat something sitting on the fence post.  I was laughing.  The Mommy in me yelled “don’t touch it!” and the photographer in me took a picture.  If you look close you can see that the squirrel is in mid-flight!  He landed on the big tree.

Thank goodness Uncle Kyle helped Liam across….otherwise we would have had wet shoes.  Love the paparazzi in the background!

This is Liam’s first ever face painting.  It’s a zebra in case you could not tell.  They had Junior volunteers that did them for free.

Good thing he’s two, he loved it

Family time

About a week ago I received a very exciting message!  Aunt Nancy and family were going to be down in our area for a quick visit.  The timing was great!   I had the night off and our Disneyland passes were not blacked out.  We had a great time hanging out with the whole gang!  It’s always so fun to see Amy, Sandro and the girls.  I can’t believe how much the girls have all grown….not to mention how beautiful they are!   I wish I had taken more pictures…. I was just too busy enjoying having a good time!  It was so fun to see you guys!  We love you and miss you!  Hurry back soon!

Downtown Disney

We made a quick trip to Disneyland last week….it was packed.  Packed=Miserable.  The nice thing about having a season pass is that when the crowds are too large, you just leave!  There’s always tomorrow!  We stopped at downtown Disney to see the fountains and eat some super tasty beignets.  We had a good time!

Beignets come in a paper bag FULL of powdered sugar.  What’s better than a sugar snow storm?

(Answer: One that makes a mess somewhere other than home!)

Trackside…

Since the rain held out on Friday we decided to head out to the race track and watch qualifying.  We were not sure how long Liam’s patience would hold out so we figured that qualifying would give us a good chance to see all the cars in action without being stuck in a big crowd with an antsy kid.  He did pretty good, but I’m certain we would not have made it through the entire race.  After the qualifying was done we walked around to look at all the souvenirs.   We walked up to a crowd of people who were standing around waiting for the filming of “Trackside”.  This is a show that is on the Speed Channel.  It was fun to see Darrel Waltrip and Jeff Hammond who have been around racing for as long as I know.  But the really exciting part was seeing Jimmie Johnson!!! In person!!! Less than 50 feet from me!!!  Oh la la!!!  Jimmie just happened to be the guest on the show.  Since Liam was in his adorable Jimmie Johnson fire suit we decided to hang out and see if we could get him on TV.  They film crowd shots as the cut out to commercial breaks.  Sadly we didn’t get him on TV.  I had text messaged all the family at home to tune in, just in case!  But the most exciting thing happened.  Liam, in all his cuteness, had won the hearts of the fans that were standing around us.  After they cut to commercial, it was quiet and a group of fans yelled, “Hey Jimmie!  Look at this kid!”.   Jimmie looked over, cracked a huge grin, and said “That’s so cool!”   He did a double fist pump, pointed and waved directly to Liam!  Liam was so excited, he was waving like crazy.  Then Jimmie turned to the show hosts and said, “Hey, look!” and pointed Liam out to them.  I wish I could say that I got pictures or videos, but the crowd was huge and I was not at an angle to get a picture.  We stayed until the end of the show in hopes that Jimmie would make his way over but there were too many fans.

We only had one drawback during the day.  Did you know that the speedway is two miles around?  I did.  Did you know that parking is horrendous and you have to take a tram since you get parked wwaaaayyyyy out in the boonies?  I did.  Did you know that if you stay until the very end of the filming of the show, the trams have already stopped running?  I did not!  Did you know that if you have to walk carrying a two year old for over 2 miles you begin to think you arms and legs and back might break?  I do now!  So I learned a valuable lesson…..ALWAYS KNOW HOW LATE THE TRAM RUNS!

But we had so much fun!  I think all the big boys are going to make it to the race next year.  Everyone is invited!

All ready for the cars.

This picture is for you Grandpa Roger!  Actually, taking pictures of cars that go so fast is really hard.  This is one of the few that I got that was even remotely decent.  Think I’ll leave the race photography to my Dad!

I had to post a picture of Jimmie’s qualifying speed…that’s why it’s hard to catch them!

Liam in the news

Last night at the hauler race Liam managed to get his picture taken and put in the local online paper.  I was hoping it would say his name but no such luck.

Here’s the link:  http://www.dailybulletin.com/

Just click on the Fontana  Auto Club race article then he’s the last picture in the “photo gallery”.
