Father’s Day

It’s always good to celebrate Dads.  They are such important people in our lives.   They help so much in shaping who we become and what we stand for.  I have been extremely blessed to have a wonderful Father of my own, to have the love of an great Father-in-law (who treats me as one of his own) and to have married a man who is a wonderful Father himself.  Frank has continued to amaze me.  He is such a sweet and tender Daddy.  He is patient, kind and fun!  I often see him running around, playing games with Liam.  Liam loves his Daddy so much.  He gets so excited to see Daddy come home from work.

This Father’s Day was pretty low key.  We had a delicious breakfast with the whole Ellett clan at The Storyteller’s CafĂ© in the Disney Grand Californian Hotel.  (Anyone who is in the area has got to try the breakfast buffet….so, so tasty!)  It is fun to spend time with family.

I tortured my boys and made them take some Father and Son (and dog) pictures.  We were almost eaten alive by mosquitos but it was worth it.

Happy Father’s Day, Honey!  We love you sooooo much!

Swimming!

It’s that time of year again.  The heat has arrived in SoCal.   Back in early June we broke out Liam’s little pool for some afternoon fun.  He swims most afternoons/evenings which means that Frank and I get to dodge a lot of splashing water!

Like that itty-bitty pool?  I might have to invest in a bigger one soon.

The poor kid can’t lay down to “swim” in it!

San Diego Zoo

Way back in May my entire family came to visit.  We celebrated my Dad’s birthday together.  We had such a good time.   As always, the time went waaaayyyy too fast!  While everyone was here we took a little trip down to San Diego and went to the zoo.  The boys did great, everyone had a fun time!

30 months….

I remember the good old days when I used to tell people Liam’s age in terms of months.  Now if I did that I’m sure I would get a lot of confused looks.  30 months….yeah.  I can’t believe he is 2 and a half already.  Liam is so much fun, occasionally challenging,  but always, always a complete love.  He says the cutest things.  I have began writing them down so that I can remember them.  Lately he has been saying “I want to be happy” when he gets into trouble.  It gives me a chance to explain that good choices will make him happy….whereas bad choices will lead to time out (unhappiness!).   The other day he melted my heart.  I had had a difficult night at work.   It wasn’t so much the physical work but rather the emotional aspects of my assignment that made it such a hard night.  I was greeted in the morning with a huge hug, an “I love you” and then he looked at me and told me, “Mommy, you’re my best!” I’m assuming he meant this as in best-friend.  Such a sweet boy.  I think he had it backwards.  Liam is truly my “best”.  He is more than I could have hoped for.  Sweet, smart, funny and loving.  And all boy!  What a blast this adventure has been so far!

We took a little trip to Balboa Beach to sightsee and take some pictures.  It was nice to get my ocean fix!

Sorry there is so many similar ones, I just love that little face and all it’s variations!  You are only 2 1/2 once, right?!?  And Mommies are allowed to show you off a bit!

I asked Liam to sit in these cute red chairs not realizing he would be so interested in the dog cookies.  People cracked up as they walked by.  He eventually did try one and decided those were best left to the canines!

IMG_1752edit

I’m not sure if it’s sand or dog cookies all over his face.  Whichever one it’s just a sign of a fun day!

There was a couple that was having their pictures taken and they gave Liam one of the balloons they used as props.   The kid was in heaven.  That big balloon was torture on the car ride home.

Boys ‘n Toys

Liam and Spencer love to play together.  It is so fun to watch as Liam interacts with Spencer.  He is so gentle and loving.  Give these two a year and they are going to be trouble together!
